Panasonic Lumix DMC-G2 Small SLR Digital Camera

Panasonic Lumix DMC-G2 Hands-On Digital Camera

The G2 and G10 are other variations on the theme launched by the G1 and as such, if you’ve seen or used the G1 or GH1, then the size, layout control, and the general feeling of these new cameras will be familiar. All these cameras take the form of a very small SLR with a hand grip on the right side, a digital camera mounted centrally above the screen, an accessory shoe on top, and of course the frame target for the interchangeable lenses on the front. However, the models differ in that they can really do.

Cliff covers most of the details of the G10 in its news story, but essentially it is the model input level range. Thus, rather than using a hinged screen, it has a fixed screen, and it also has a lower resolution camera. Conversely, unlike the G1, there are video recording capabilities and with a new image processor, a faster shot to shot time of 3.2fps. The image sensor is the same 12.1-megapixel one used in G1 and GF1.

As for the G2, it has the same 100 percent FOV, 0.7x magnification, 1.44 million dot viewfinder and revolve 3in 460k dot LCD screen and the image sensor as the G1 and GF1. However, it adds capabilities to the touch screen LCD and can also shoot video at resolutions up to 720p at 50fps (60fps for NTSC version). In addition, it has a built in mono microphone input and a stereo microphone, so it’s a very capable shooter video. [via trustedreviews]
